Injection Molding

Picture The Pressure® In Injection Molding

With Prescale and Pressure Metrics

Fujifilm Prescale lets you Picture the Pressure® in injection molding. We help you select, use, and analyze results from pressure, even in high-temperature molding environments.

Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Material is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold cavity. After a product is designed, usually by an industrial designer or an engineer, molds are made from metal, usually either steel or aluminum, and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part. Injection molding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest component to entire body panels of cars. Fujifilm Prescale can be used to measure the integrity of molds to ensure an even mating of all surfaces.

High temperature testing:

Because of the heat involved in many operations, you might need to test with temperatures well above 100º F. In that case, we recommend using to protect the pressure film itself. This works to well over 700º F.

Prescale is a quick and easy way to check distribution or uniformity of contact pressure. Simply place the pressure indicating film between two mating or contacting surfaces and apply pressure as normally required. The film instantly changes color as a result. The variation in the red color density can be compared with a color chart to determine the pressure. In addition, the color will give an immediate footprint of the area. Any imperfections or variations along the contact area can be spotted with a quick check. There are seven ranges from 7 psi to 43,200 psi, and digital analysis is also available.
